We are able to serve the academic needs of international and domestic student athletes through our educational partners.

Our student-athletes also have the opportunity to take online college courses through their local community or junior college. Our student-athletes can take up to 9 college hours each semester that will be transferable to any college across the country. Each day our student-athletes will have the opportunity to sit in one of our educational classrooms with a teacher who will give guidance and instruction for those online college courses. They will learn valuable time management skills and the other skills necessary to achieve success in the college classroom.

Also, our student-athletes can take high school courses through our international high school. The courses could be used to improve the academic areas of study that may not be their strongest or improve their overall high school GPA. They can also participate in SAT Prep courses to improve those scores necessary to gain admission to colleges of their dreams along making available academic scholarship money to those colleges or universities. It will also help them meet the NCAA or NAIA Eligibility requirements to compete.

Benefits of Post Graduate Educational Partnerships:

  • Strengthen lacking academic areas of study
  • Improve overall high school GPA
  • SAT score improvement
  • Take up to 18 transferable general education college courses
  • Learn time management and valuable study skills

Prior to the onset of my public-school teaching career, I taught a variety of life skills’ classes to adults who were intellectually disabled and had various mental health challenges.  I eventually was instrumental in helping open a weekend club house for the adults.  More than anything, I knew I had the desire to help others discover what they truly care about and unlock their passions.  I also performed duties as assistant basketball coach at Altoona High School for a stint during this time.

For the past 23 years, I have served as English teacher, head teacher, assistant-principal, and now as principal for the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit #11 at South Mountain Secure.  It is there that I have instructed adjudicated youth the academic courseware, socialization skills, and general life skills’ knowledge to help them return and be productive working members of their communities.  Along the way, I was blessed to receive the Pennsylvania Juvenile Corrections Teacher of the Year  award in 2004.

Besides my career in education, I was employed as a mental health clinician for Franklin Family Services from 2004-2019.  I provided an array of mental health services to promote individual and family wellness.  I earned by Bachelor’s Degree in English Education from Penn State in 1994, Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Shippensburg U. in 2005, Administrative Certification in 2006, and Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility in 2015.

I welcome the opportunities I have at Scotland to help young men prepare for their next venture in life.
